The Public Digitalization Program (PDP), an initiative led by the EBS Foundation with the sponsorship of the European Union and the Government of Romania, has successfully concluded in Mérida. The last session was chaired by Juan Carlos Preciado, Secretary General for Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity of the Regional Government of Extremadura.
The program, which brought together technicians and managers from regional public administrations in Eastern Europe, has been an exceptional forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of digitization. During his speech, Preciado highlighted the importance of digitalization as a driver of development and announced the four main axes for the digital transformation of Extremadura: technological innovation, digital inclusion, cybersecurity and sustainability.
“We are committed to advancing digitalization in Extremadura and we understand that it is fundamental to improving the quality of life of our citizens,” said Preciado. He also answered numerous questions from participants, emphasizing the need to adapt public policies to new technologies to ensure a prosperous and secure future.
The completion of the PDP marks an important milestone for Extremadura on its path towards a more digital and connected society. With the learnings from the program, the Junta de Extremadura hopes to implement new strategies that will strengthen its digital capabilities and foster greater international collaboration in the field of technology and innovation.
For his part, the project manager of Fundesalud, Bernardino Morillo, shared with the participants in the program the different projects aimed at public health, including ‘The Rural’, ‘Movecare’ and ‘Essence’, all of them financed with European funds. He also shared other projects of interest to the participants in this program, among which ‘Crane’, ‘Innobuyer’ and ‘Jarcardi’ stand out. The participants, during the colloquium, were very interested in the projects.
The program has taken place over five days in the cities of Cáceres, Mérida and Seville, and has allowed the twenty-five participants to learn directly from experts in fields such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, cybersecurity and information management. The program has included visits to leading public organizations in digitization, as well as interactive sessions that have promoted the exchange of experiences among professionals in the sector: Cáceres and Seville City Councils, Civil Guard, Circular Fab Project, REDEX, Fundesalud, Serradilla City Council, University of Extremadura and Fundecyt have been the institutions chosen on this occasion.
The PDP has had a duration of thirty hours of training, focused on the transformative impact of innovation in society and public structures.
