The 4th edition of the Public Digitalization Program 2026 continues its activities in Extremadura with an intensive institutional and training agenda focused on knowledge exchange in the fields of digital transformation, public innovation, and the modernization of public administrations.
On the morning of Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, participants from several Romanian public institutions and organizations traveled to the capital of Extremadura to attend a working session at the School of Public Administration of Extremadura, one of the region’s leading centers for public sector training and modernization.
The session began in the main conference hall with an institutional address by Juan Carlos Preciado, who expressed his gratitude for hosting an international program of this importance in Extremadura. During his speech, he highlighted the value of initiatives that promote cultural exchange, institutional cooperation, and the sharing of knowledge and best practices in digital innovation.
Following his intervention, Andrés Pascual delivered a presentation focused on Extremadura’s digital transformation process over recent years. Throughout his talk, he explained how the region has evolved from being historically one of Spain’s least digitalized territories into an example of technological growth and adaptation, especially within the public sector and citizen-oriented digital services.
Participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about several strategies, projects, and digital initiatives promoted by the Regional Government of Extremadura aimed at reducing the digital divide, improving rural connectivity, and advancing towards a more efficient, accessible, and innovative public administration.
The day concluded with a cultural visit to the Roman Theatre of Mérida and the Roman Amphitheatre of Mérida, allowing the international participants to discover one of Extremadura’s most important historical and heritage landmarks, bringing to a close a day defined by collective learning, international cooperation, and the exchange of experiences.
