The Palacio de la Generala, headquarters of the EBS Foundation in Cáceres, hosted the official opening of the third edition of the Public Digitalization Program (PDP) this Monday, an international meeting bringing together 35 technicians and experts from northern Romania to share experiences on digital transformation and public governance in Europe.
Promoted by the EBS Foundation, the program seeks to strengthen institutional cooperation and joint learning between European regions. The opening day was marked by a welcome from Carlos Ongallo, CEO of EBS and director of the program, who emphasized the importance of building links between regions through digital innovation.
The first session featured a presentation by José Javier Berrocal Olmeda, Vice-Rector for Technology at the University of Extremadura, who explained how digitalization is transforming the university environment, from academic management to research in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Fernando Doncel Blázquez, Dean of the College of Technical Industrial Engineers, also spoke, highlighting the role of engineering in the modernization of public services.
After a break, the participants moved to the Cáceres Provincial Council, where they learned about the Reference Center for Digital Transformation, «El Círculo.» There, Agustín Aretio, Maribel Orjuela and Alexis Bote presented projects that promote innovation and territorial cohesion through digitalization.
The day concluded with a guided tour of the monumental city of Cáceres, a World Heritage Site, where attendees were able to discover the historical and cultural richness of the Cáceres capital.
This first day served to lay the groundwork for an intense week of learning, institutional cooperation, and shared experiences that will span different parts of Extremadura and Andalusia. In the words of Carlos Ongallo, director of EBS and promoter of the program, these days of immersion in excellent digitalization projects place Spain at an irreplaceable moment to advance the digitalization of the public sector.
